You may feel like you can but you shouldn't. Your muscles require time to heal. When you work out you are literally ripping your muscles...to continue to workout would never allow them to heal, therefore never allow you to make progress. Of course, you could do so for a couple of weeks and be ok, but to try to do so over an extended period of time is just hurting yourself and wasting your own time...to get good results, you should wait 3 days between same muscle exercises.

Think of it this way, a work out day and a growth day. Your muscles only grow, get bigger, stronger and heal during your rest day. This is a tiring process, your body can NOT exercise AND use this amount of energy to close together. Also, unless this is a way of life for you, without healing and growth, you'll damage yourself and be in so much pain you won't want to or be able to move.

It is suppose to let your muscles heal. You could easily workout every day, but you could make every other day a focus on something else.

Maybe one day you could lift weights
And then next day you could do some running.
