the scienctific method??? first think of an expiriment or something then make a hypothosis then test it then make a conclusion

well they use the scientific method a very simplistic practical approach
the controlled experiment is key to this approach. there must be a dependent and independent variable being tested. the dependent obviously changed based on the change of the independent. no how do we go about conducting a controlled experiment. we must have a control. our control(s) are what we will keep constant throughout. certain condtions must remain constant for the experiment to suffice in proving its point. for exammple if i were conducting an experimetn to prove the efficacy of a certain cough drop my control would be that the people i use would be of same age, have same severity of cough, given same amount of cough drop at same times and so on--its pretty obvious. i would however need an experimental group in which the cough drop is given. the control group will not be given the cough drop but a placebo instead to prevent psychological interference on the results. so see we have the concept of control group, experimental group, independent variable and dependent variable...

there we go the sci method...now u must remember the more times u conduct an experiment and the larger the number of what the experiment is performed on, the more alid your results. for your hypothesis to be accepted as a theory it is necassary that in any part of the world this experiment can be repeated to obtain the same results as what you have based you conclusion on allowing for the same conclusion to be fully supported.
observation is key besides that and so is the method of obtaining recording and graphing data to make inferences...not predictions inferences. predictions are what a hypothesis basically is. inferences are how one uses information they already have to make a legitimate conclusion that is logical can be debatable but must be sensible.

there you go hope that helps.

Maybe you are ferering to the scientific method. And it consists of:
Observations
Questions (Hypothesis)
Prediction
Test
Determine if the test falsifies the hypothesis or if it doesn't
