i mean singing sheet music. i tought my self piano just to find my key or my first note. sometimes i wish i could just look at music and sightread it. my friend nikki can sightread like a freakin wiz. please help and serious answers only. thanks. much love, amber <3

It takes practice, talk to a choral director at a High School or College near you. My ex is a music teacher and was always adament about being able to sight read.....practice new music, record it then compare it to a legitimate recording!

Flash cards work wonders! Learn your notes and learn the scales, do major and minor scales.

Also teach yourself intervals. Then when you sight read you know what pitch the next note is by what interval it is and you can easily hit it. (if you practice enough of course.)

And as silly as it sounds. Singing Church hymns helps because they are so predictable. I often had people ask me how I knew a hymn... but I was just sight reading.
