When I try to view my buddy's webcam, I get a message saying that I can't because I'm behind a firewall. After disabling it in my security center, I still get the same message. Are there other firewalls in messenger? If so, how do I get around it?

If you are trying to view a cam, I assume you are using high-speed internet of some sort. If so hopefully you are behind a router, that is the firewall that is being complained of. Forward a port and your problems will be solved

Some antivirus programs have built-in firewalls, e.g. Norton's "Internet Worm Protection". Windows XP has its own firewall if you haven't disabled it..
