I posted a question last night about what to do about a rash and itching all over my body. Well the rash is not as noticable and the itching wont stop. I have talked with my doctor and they OK'ed benadryl. I took some and it made me fall asleep. As soon as I woke up I was itchy again. Now it seems to just be getting worse and worse. I don't want to keep bugging my doctor but what can I do? It is driving me crazy! (Oh, I am 21 weeks pregnant btw... figured that would matter.) Thanks for your help.

I got a rash/itching all over the bottom of my belly. This also got all over my butt and calves near my ankles. This drove me insane and proceeded to get worse towards me giving birth. The day that I went into labor I stayed on the couch on benadryl cause I couldn't stop itching no matter what I tried....
This is called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/9450.html
I tried everything like baking soda, itching creams on my skin you name it I tried it.. Nothing seemed to work for me. The one thing I will say is just keep lotion on you and keep that skin moisturized and the benadryl is the only thing that helped me along with it... it wont hurt the baby don't worry!
The good news is it goes away when the baby comes and you normally will not get it again if you have another baby. The bad news is it drove me crazy and I'm sure you can't wait for it to go away now!!!
Mine didn't go away till about a week after my boy was born! They had to keep giving me benadryl in the hospital as well.
Good luck - Try soaking in oatmeal baths too... just make sure you stay away from hot water!!!

Have your doctor check your liver. I read ust maybe a few days ago tha a rash and itching all over the body could be a sign ofliver failure or something like that. So have them check that out also have them check scabbies (sc-A-bees). Aka body lice. You may have been exposed to them any number of ways even possibly by trying on clothes after someone who had them. Hope this helps...try an oatmeal bath forthe time beingto calm th itchiness.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD GO TO THE HOSPITAL. You could have any number of things that present as a rash and itchiness. At least at the hospital they can get a good look at it and do some test so that they can find out what is causing this and then maybe they just might be able to give you something to fix it - BUT YOU WON'T KNOW UNLESS YOU GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!

Cold weather is rough on our skin especially pregnant women. Try soaking in the tub with a moisturizer for your skin. Make sure the water is NOT TOO HOT! Use something to kind of moisturizing lotion for itching like Aveeno. You have to keep your body moisture in. That is why you having the itching.

READ VERY CAREFULLY:
You might have a condition called: "Cholestasis of Pregnancy" it's very serious and extremely dangerous for your baby. if you want more info. go to www.itchymoms.com and you will get a lot of valuable info on the subject. Dr's. tend to ignore the symptom of itchiness because after all itchiness some times is just part of the pregnancy, but it also could mean something else. Ask them. (beg them if you have to) to order a test called: "Serum Bile Acid Test" if the results are irregular or high, you might have cholestasis of pregnancy. I wish you luck and I am not trying to scared you, in my opinion: " WHEN IT COMES TO A BABY, IT'S BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY"
Please let me know how things go for you and the little one. God bless!
BTW, this conditions has something to do with your liver, you might be referred to a liver specialist like I was.

I had a really itchy condition with a rash when I was pregnant and it was called P.U.P.P.s (acronym) and it was caused from the male hormone of my son. I went to a dermatologist and they prescribed a topical steroid. It was awful and sounded silly to say to people when I told them I had pups and they would look at my bulging tummy.

if you're itching around your belly or breasts it could be the onset of stretch marks. if you are itching everywhere you should see a doctor for blood tests - hep C and cirrhosis of the liver will make you itch like mad
