Its probably cause the song touches you in a way that reaches your heart.or you feel that what the song is talking about is true or right.

Mainly the lyrics. But the song you heard 3 wooden crosses Is basically telling the story of the Crucifixion of Christ & the men on the left & the right of him. That would have made me cry too.

I think songs make people cry because they relate to what the song is saying. For intance a song singing about a break up, might remind you of an emotional breakup you went through. Or a song about someone dying could bring back painful memories of someone you lost.

Because 9 times out of 10, they relate to a song in a way that makes them cry. Whether they are tears of joy, sadness, or even anger, they relate to the song in a way that promotes whatever emotion that causes them to cry.

Eh don't worry I'm sure everyone's gotta cry over some type of song, unless they have a heart of steel. The only song I ever cried over was My Immortal by Evanescence, and it was because how Amy Lee sang it and what the lyrics meant, and so I cried over that.

because songs tend to have that therapeutic effect sometimes. Its hard to explain. They're just cool. You look into the lyrics and it connects you to your emotions and makes your cry

A lot of songs have lyrics that do stimulate certain memories or feelings.
Even without lyrics, certain pieces of music can stir intense emotions. We humans use all our senses....

i love blues, it so heartfelt and honest, i always feel the emotion of the songs, even if theyre funny.. which, despite the name of the genre, alot of blues songs are hilarious.
in someway i think you have to be able to relate, or have a strong sense of empathy to put yourself in the time, place and situation of the writer.
