I have heard that it is not safe. Though I can't tell you why. I do know, that Kelly Ripa - Actress, talk show host, has not colored her hair during her pregnancies.

My OBGYN said no. I had wanted to color my hair as well, and they just advised me not to do so. Also, a lot of places that style hair might not want to do your daughters, because her hair texture could change being pregnant. I would say err on the side of caution and avoid it til after the baby is born. Congrats on becoming a grandma!!

Some docs say no some say yes. I have dyed mine with all 3 of my children and had no issues with it. I know some ppl who have and their hair turned some weird color because of high hormone levels. If she does dye it make sure she is in a very well ventalted room. She for sure doesnt need to breath those fumes in.

my doctor said it's fine and it was an old wives tale that people used to say that. The only thing she would not suggest was bleach because it sits on your scalp for possibly long periods of time and COULD seep in, but she even said that's highly unlikely. She also said she doesn't necessarily think people should WORK in a salon throughout their pregnancy because of inhaling fumes day after day, week after week, but to have your hair/nails/etc done is fine.

No it is not safe. The chemicals in the hair color can harm your baby. If she has bad roots try one of those rinses that are not permanent.

I dont think you are supposed to color your hair while pregnant. I know my best friend had to let her hair go while preggo. An I swear I remember my doc telling me not to while I was pregnant.

There hasnt been really any research done on hair dye so that is why some doctors say it is ok and others say not to. I know people who have and I talked to my hair stylest that said that they wont do your hair if you are in your first trimester after that they will.

yes, i am 28 weeks and just recently dyed mine. get it professionally done though. box dyes dont work well due to the hormones embalance in pregnant women. just make sure where ever it is well ventilated, if not make sure she can point a fan at herself. if the smell gets too dstrong tell her to take a break and get some fresh air.
also its safest after the first trimester.......good luck!

My doctor told me that herbal essance was the only safe hair dye because it didnt have amonia and was made from natural extracts. She also said anytype of highlights were fine, because they didnt sit on the scalp. Ive dyed my hair, but only with herbal essance.
