It is the light that lets you know that the antitheft feature of this truck are working. This truck has a BCM in it. One of its functions is to monitor the ignition cylinder and key for installation and rotation. This sends a start enable command to the PCM to say it is the proper code for the key which enables starter relay and the fuel injector drivers. It is a fairly good system as far as not beng easily beat.

It is a Pass Lock security system. It uses a magnetic sensor in the ignition lock cylinder that sends a password to the theft module to enable the fuel injectors when you are cranking the engine. If the module doesn't see a valid password it will shut off the injectors after about 2 seconds. The security light in the dash should go off after the engine starts. It usually either says "SECURITY" or "THEFT SYSTEM". If the light ever starts to flash and the vehicle starts and dies, you've got a problem with the system.
