My son did the exact same thing. I worried he was sleeping so much too. At first I tried to keep him up - but it made for a really grumpy baby. My grandmother gave me the old speech "never wake a sleeping baby - they will sleep as much as they need and no one knows their needs as much as they do". I stopped trying to keep him up. As a toddler, he even got up from lunch and announced he was going to take his nap. I'd say you are just lucky - most moms would be envious. That being said, my son is now 14 and has healthy sleeping patterns (of course, most teenagers like to sleep late when they can - and he does do that). I also have a theory on it - just my opinion, of course. I think children that sleep well when they are young grow up with great temperments. My son has always been gentle and tolerant. Probably no weight to that, but every child I've encountered that slept well when they were young are like that. Don't worry - she is perfectly normal.

it's normal for babies to sleep all the time. my neice is 3 months old and she sleeps from 9pm-6am straight through the night, then she's awake 1-2 hours, sleeps 1-2 hours, awake 1-2 hours, sleeps 1-2 hours...etc. that's just her pattern. her dr. said there was nothing wrong with it at all. i thought it was a little weird when i babysat her at first, but it wasn't hurting anything, so i went with the flow. she's also the happiest baby i've ever seen in all of my 19 years. she only cries if she's hungry, needs a diaper change, or tired. she doesn't cry or fuss for no reason. so i would say if your baby seems happy then don't worry about it. if she's cranky there may be something wrong. if you still feel she sleeps too much then you could try to keep her up a little longer than normal, or wake her up after she's been sleeping an hour or so. if she seems to agree with less sleep then keep it up, but if she gets fussy just let her sleep. it won't hurt anything. just keep your baby happy and you'll most likely be happy.
just a little side note....i always find it kinda funny how people get worried or enjoy it if their young babies and toddlers sleep so much, but when they're teenagers and sleeping til noon the parents usually wake them up and call them lazy. lol. my mom does that to me when i stay home on weekends.

That sound just like my 3 month old, except she doesn't start her night until around 3 in the morning. I'm pretty sure that that's a normal amount of sleep for a baby that age to get. If you are really worried, ask you baby's doctor. I also don't think a baby would sleep if s/he isn't tired. Believe me, I've tried.

I wouldn't worry. A baby should be sleeping about 14-15 hours a day. Just remember that children grow as they sleep.
Based on recommended levels, that is 14-15 hours per day for infants, 12-14 hours for toddlers, 11-13 hours for preschoolers, and 10-11 hours for kids in first to fifth grade.

my son is almost 5 months old and his sleeping habits are close to your daughters. when he was younger he didnt like to sleep and mostly cried all through the night and we looked around for stuff to do differently and now he gets up when daddy does at 5:30 for a bottle and goes back to sleep to wake up at 8:00 when daddy comes back home to get ready for work. at around 10:30 he will lay back down and sleep till around 12:00 or so his daddy feds him while on lunch and Riley will play in his walker untill about 3:00 when he lays back down untill about 6:00 ....... after that its touch and go but he usually takes another hour nap and goes to bed for the night about 12:00 or so....... when he first started sleeping so much i was worried to but someone told that its their bodies way of resting because they are growing so much right now.....

young babies sleep alot.
Nothing is wrong with your daughter.
It is natural for a 4 month old to sleep alot especially depending on her schedule. I have a niece that is 5 months old and she use to sleep alot but now she is more active.
If you are really concerned and think this is abnormal than consult a physician right away!
Hope this helps!

Not a bad sleeping habit. Butyou may want her to start keeping her up more. Try putting her in a walker and let her sit there if she wants. So that when she is older she won't be getting to much sleep when she is older.
