Magneto powers not only enable him to control metal but use the magnetic field to protect himself or cities(manipulating it). He can also create force fields and he can use atoms around him. For example, he can cause storms and control electricity and use things in the atmosphere we can not even see. Like he once turned off Torches fire cage without moving at all. He also can, at full power, control non metal objects. He can also take out the iron from the ground and even control radiation and deflect lasers. He also poseses mental powers and is immune to them as well. He is known as the most powerful mutant in the world.

Ps: Magneto can also take the iron out of the blood stream and make people get heart attacks or faint or control their minds. He has also lifted whole islands and moved mountains. He can create worm holes and can become invisible. In the comics magneto kills phoenix by giving it a heart attack.

No Professor X would wipe his mind off his powers but this is only Quick fix. It would wear off but shield and the x-men would find a way to lock him up like they did in the Ultimate universe

You have to bear in mind that when you say all of the characters in the Marvel universe you you are including the cosmically powered ones as well. Magneto is very powerful, but there is no way he would defeat Galactus(who devours entire planets), or The Stranger(who created and maintained battleworld by sheer force of will). Also the most powerful mutants are classified as omega-level mutants, and I don't think Magneto has ever been classified as omega-level, though he may very well be one and they just haven't said as much thus far. Of the known omega-level mutants I believe Franklin Richards is generally considered to be the most powerful(I could be remembering incorrectly but I think he created counter-earth).

I would vote for Onslaught or the Human Torch (cuz i heard that he can make to sun go super nova). What about Gideon. He is able to copy anyones mutant power and use it against them. And let us not forget Black Bolt who leveled a city just by whispering.

i dont know but I sure enjoy those xmen...I would usually just walk right on by them in the video store just oblivious to them. my husband sucked me in this past summer- I watched all three in one sitting! My stars! I never knew what i was missing and I'm sad that they were supposed to be a trilogy...I'm hoping the spinoffs are a reality, I'd sit through hours of wolverine and the conflicts of the fire and ice guys!

I thought only Jean w/ her telekinesis powers (as the Phoenix)was more powerful than him (from the third movie). I don't know though.
