ok Beckham has been contracted by the L.A Galaxy for 5 years, fo 250 million dollars!
personally i think it is worth it, because Beckham is not only one of the top players at this moment, but in my opinion he is the representation of soccer ( i am reffering to the fact that he is the good image, commercials and all.) what do u think?

For those of you who say that soccer is not popular in the U.S, we all know that. that is my point, soccer is popular everywhere except in the U.S, my point is that maybe this will bring popularity to the U.S soccer league.( given that beckham is a star around the globe).

There will definitely be a hype for football when Beckham arrives in the US, but, quite frankly, it'll all die down very quickly. Pelé, the King of Football, played for New York Cosmos in 1975, but he only played for 2 years. And, no one really remembers that he even came to the US now. If Pelé couldn't have had so much impact, I don't think that Beckham can either. The US is too absorbed in all its basketball-hockey lovin' culture. They can never experience football, breathe football, like they do in Europe, South America or Africa.

soccer will never be as popular as football, basketball, or baseball in the u.s. cali wasted too much money on one guy when they could have beefed up the raiders or the niners. heck maybe start up another team. pay a guy 250 million dollars, and see what happens? what if he has a season ending career on the 1st debut game in america? 250 million dollars can feed the needy, support the troops, and help the raiders. pay randy moss an extra million, tell terrell owens the raiders are willing to negotiate and see what happens. i bet that will boost the economy, and such.... by the way im not a raiders fan, i just hate high priced soccer player. oh yeah i hate soccer too...

Oh please. Good image? Didn't I hear something about an alleged affair a few years back. I've never heard about any of the great charities this couple contributes to. Be real... It's about the money... they only care about the potential $$'s he might bring in. $250 million is going to be tough to earn. The girls love him because he's attractive (idiots... he has a wife).
He's going to be making more than 5 of the best major league baseball players combined!
Just go through any McDonalds in LA and see the people begging for food and money. $250 million is shameful!
Dumbass consumers! You welcome this behavior when you don't do anything about it. Boycott him.

I luv beckham.....He's cool and all. But I don' think he can carry all of north american teams on his shoulders. They should have picked 20 or 40 good professional soccer players from all over the world and disperse them to US and Canadian teams.

****yawn****Soccer is a kids sport in the US, sorry but nobody even knows what the LA galaxy is. In my opinion he's probably going do be disapointed. USC will draw a bigger crowd than the Galaxy ever thought to draw.

well he is not the best, but he is very well known, and i watch his interview and he said " I want to go to the U.S because it's a challenge, in the U.S soccer is not the most top play sport and I want to change it. " so i think he will be a god in the U.S.A, and i don't watch U.S soccer that much i prefer European soccer !!!

I think its sick being paid that much money. Plus the fact that someone would have a 1 billion dollar insurance policy. Bet you didn't know that!
