"the way he gown himself continually marvel me." this may be seen as childlike-or from an rather poor educational history. i in my opinion could understand completely which you weren't with community English tongue. i'm an English learner...(and if i'm going to element some thing else out here) i'm studying English...

I think we English people think that people who don't speak English too well will understand our slow talking mode.

It makes them feel stupid in some way.

It is called Enunciating and how and when are they ever going to learn how to use the language. I wish that more people would ENUNCIATE!! instead of mumbling.

I don't do that. Like you said , they don't understand, so, making myself look like a fool wouldn't help them understand any better.
