Definately suctioning the baby after squirting a little saline (like the "little noses" saline drops), vicks baby rub, the baby vapor bath, a cool mist humidifier in the rom and the pediacare vapor plug- available at walgreens. It helped with me last year when my son had a bad cold, he was 4-5 months old at the time.
Goo d luck!

If the horrible blue thing is the kind the hospital sends home, then it is worthless! there are different ones you can get at the pharmacy that are actually for infant nasal suction. the one the hospital sends home is actually for ears! however with an infant that young you definetly need to take it to a doc simply because you have to be so careful of what medication you give. my little guy started out with a stuffy nose and no other symptoms and within a week it had settled in his chest and turned into bronchitis. also saline drops will help loosen the yuck up so you can suction it out easier.

Saline nose drops work well. A great tip I got from my doctor was to rub some vick's rub into a bib and keep it on. The vapor's rise up, so the baby breaths them in.

Dimetapp liquid may have an infant dosage. Check the lable and if unclear check with the pharmacist. This is about all they give a child that young. keep suctioning and perhaps use saline up the nose then suction.

Humidifier in the room, worked pretty good for my son.
With the congestion, see if the doctor will ok a decongestant.
Tylenol takes away pain, but there's something else that will clear up the stuffiness, and I can't remember what it is.

You can put a little saline solution in his nose and see if this helps. I'm kind off concerned that your son isn't running a fever, but it might just be me. You might want to check and see what the pediatrician thanks about not having a fever.

You should take him to the doctor. Congestion in an infant can turn to RSV which for a baby is deadly.

If it's not too cold out wherever you are... try standing outside with him for 10 minutes... it usually helps clear their breathing for a while. Try propping up his mattress by lifting it and putting something underneath it to raise it up a bit. Cool fresh air in the bedroom.

when my kids got sick when they were young I gave them baby dimatap, or lifted their window just enough to let some cool night air in. It always worked and their doctor agreed with me on it being the best thing to do. just make sure he is covered up and in warm pjs if you do the window thing.
