I'm 5 months pregnant right now and I went in a month ago to hear the heartbeat and the doctor couldn't find it. He gave me an ultrasound and found that the reason they couldn't find the hearbeat was because the baby was jumping up and down. Don't get worried just ask the doctor if you could have an ultrasound to be sure everything is alright, but mostly like the baby is just moving around a lot.

Did they use a doppler? Usually an ultrasound detects a heartbeat and even if you can't hear it you should be able to see it. Either way as a woman pregnant it's of course normal to be afraid. I was 10 weeks when I couldn't hear a heartbeat. When they did an ultrasound, they found out that instead of 13 weeks I was 10 weeks, so at the time of the doppler I would have been about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant. If the doctor didn't seem worried maybe you should bring up your concerns.

I am 17 weeks and I just had another doctors appt and they found my baby's heart beat but it was very faint because of the baby's position and the baby kept moving around! but it wasn't nearly as loud as last months so maybe that's your case! also I think if your doctor thought something was wrong he or she would have sent you for an ultra sound. also they check your pregnancy hormone levels when you get there and if they were normal then most likely you are doing fine! however I would be worried as well but you can go to the ER if you are really worried and say you have been cramping bad and they will get you an emergency ultra sound! not the best ideal but if you have to you can! I know because at 11 weeks I started bleeding bad and went to the ER they gave me one and a lot of other tests! good luck

Sometimes the baby is in a weird position or the Dr just isn't in the right place to hear it. The Dr should have done an ultrasound to make sure. I would call back to see if they can do one to make sure.
Wishing you all the best!! Good luck!!

Did the doc seem worried? If not, then I wouldn't be worried. At my four month check-up the nurse had a hard time finding the heartbeat, but eventually got it. Usually if the nurse can't find it, they'll have another nuse or the doc check it. If nobody could find it, then yeah, I'd be worried. Best of Luck!

I would probably be worried too but it all depends on how the baby is laying/facing. If your Dr is not worried then I would try to stay calm. GOOD LUCK

I would be, but if the DR. isn't then you don't be either. HE/SHE knows better than I or you. Maybe the machine wasn't working properly. If it happens again, I definitely would be concerned and ASK. If you are still feeling movement, the baby is o.k.

I will never trust any doctor,we must all learn to be our own doctors ,Step 1 read books step 2 see another doctor(they do have the equipment) If he says everything is okay go to step 3 never trust a doctor---do more research on your own
