Beckett.com. The only problem is that once the big boom peaked around 1992 with baseball cards, everyone raided their parents attics and basements and realized that they had 5 mickey mantle rookie cards. That and the advent of the internet crushed card values. Most cards these days aren't worth the wood to burn them. Even the most valuable ones aren't worth a what they used to be anymore.

I asked an old man once what he thought was the value of a used Ford truck I owned. He told me that it was worth what someone was willing to pay for it. I think you can apply this anywhere, especially collectibles. What is it worth to you? What would you pay for the particular item you are selling if you did not own it and wanted to purchase it. Then you can put a value on it and sell it. Another idea is stick it on Ebay and let the bidding public decide. Of course you can buy collectible books that give you avg values, but it is tricky to pinpoint an accurate representation of what your specific item is worth.

Unfortunately, if you go to a "free" website, you won't get the most objective value of the cards that you are holding. You are better off befriending a mainstream collector who goes to card shows and asking him/her for his/her "PROFESSIONAL OPINION". I stress befriend so you won't get shortchanged.
Unless. you put your cards up for auction (brick & mortar vs. online (e.g. EBAY), do not count on even approximating the market value of your cards.
Last, treat your cards like a foreign commodity, like a currency whose fluctuation in value is VERY VOLATILE. Trust me, due to the antics of these "Professional Athletes", a particular card could plummet in value in just a year. Good Luck!
