Alright I'm not scared of mice, just mice that aren't in a cage! Allow me to explain. I moved into my apartment a couple months ago. There was no problem at that time. But we later learned that the pervious tenants were very angry about being kicked out, so they released their fancy mice in the house. The mice started breeding. have caught 6 of the little buggers. But I'm starting to get scared of them. They were running across my feet, (kid you not), one of them jumped up at me. All of this always happens first thing in the morning, they are the craziest mice I've ever seen. And they are on to me catching them (lol). Conspiring against me, only coming out at night, ignoring mouse traps, making little scuttling noises across my bedroom floor while I'm sleeping (hardwood floors) I'm not sure what to do. Help advice please! Also I can't stand the sight of them dead I get filled with guilt. I know stupid. My guys in Iraq so I can't have him come over & take care of it for me! HELP!

The problem is I don't want to KILL the things. My Landlord keeps giving me the no kill traps because of this, (against his better judgement)...

Well, this should actually be your landlord's problem to deal with. He/she should hire an exterminator or a pest control company to get them out. Maybe you could tell your landlord that, if at all possible, you'd like the mice to be removed, but not killed. I lived in the country with my husband in his mom's house for a few months in 2002 and they had field mice come in the house all the time. I started to leave pieces of Saltine crackers or Ritz crackers around the edges of the room and I actually caught a few by hand, when they were eating. If I had taken them outside, they would have came right back in the house, so instead, I took an old fishtank and filled it with woodchips and made a little mouse condo and had some pets! They even had babies.
But seriously, by law, the mice are supposed to be your landlord's problem, not yours.
If you have an old shoebox lying around, you can cut a 1" diameter hole in one end of it and put some crackers in there. Turn all the lights off, but leave a night light or candle on in the room. Stay really still, and watch closely. As soon as they go in, move slowly and quietly to the box, and slide a piece of cardboard over the hole. Take the mouse outside, or to a nearby field, or wherever and let it free.

The apartment management needs to take care of the situation. Are they the ones that told you the angry ex-tenants released their mice in your home?

Have your landlord call an exterminator. I know too that there is a mouse strip that mice stick to if you put it out. Try to put peanut butter on the traps you have as they love that. Good luck!

I am not surprised you feel this way! Don't feel guilty. Shouldn't the landlord be responsible for this? You can have professionals come and lay out bait until the problem is taken care of.

Get in touch with the landlord and explain the problem to them. It should be their responcibility to find a means to exterminate your rodent problem, as long as you pay rent.
