A Joule if your talking about energy

For the people who are saying a Calorie
a calorie is the amount of energy that it takes to raise water one degree Celsius

so although it involves energy it is not the unit

Its the Joule

work done is=force *displacement
unit of work done is joules (J)
energy possessed by an object = capacity to do work
therefore work done = energy
therefore the unit of energy is joules (J)
