I have a D-Link DWL 900 AP+ access point. I have my cable modem connected to a Switch then from the switch it goes to this computer (its working) and a network cable going to the access point. Does anyone know what to do?

Sounds like, with the hook-up you described you're not using the access Point for anything. You better call D-Link tech support.

first consult the documentation for your cable modem to see how that device implements DHCP

then you will have to connect to the AP to configure it. you will either need a straight through Ethernet cable or a cross-over cable and connect the AP to your PC or laptop for configuration

once you have configured the AP simply disconnect from the PC and plug it into any available port on the switch.

then reboot your network starting with the cable modem.

You need a router somewhere in the mix -- either the cable modem needs a built-in router, or the switch needs to be replaced with a router, or the AP with a wireless router. Or all 3 in one.
