One where instead of power and money we seek knowledge, enlightenment and truth? And work not to benefit ourselves, but to enrich and empower humankind as a whole. To live by the thought of "The need of the many outweighs the need of the few."

Or am i just delusional?

I believe that for our self-centered species it is not possible. But for a species to exist that is self-less, I believe that lifestyle could very well work... But I think an evil man could ruin and corrupt such a society by introducing them to forms of payment, such as money.

What a great thought, BUT not within the next 300 years (as Trek is supposed to take place in). We live in a world that is driven, molded, and developed by greed. Money and power are the driving force; couple that with total lack of compassion for fellow man and we have a long way to go to a world as pristine and selfless as Star Trek and Starfleet. Their world is based on selfless service and betterment of mankind for all. We're not even close. Maybe we need the Eugenics War that they had to make us appreciate our world and life as much as they do and change our opinions and views. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...I have my fingers crossed.

In theory, it definitely could - because it's logical. But in reality....I don't think so. thinking and behavior of human beings is often far from logic:D

Just as well - I think there will always be selfish people who won't care about others. So I don't think you are delusional...just rational;D
