Apologies for some of the replies you've gotten as they certainly aren't helping your opinion. Some of us can be militaristic, pushy, and just plain rude, but you know, we're all different people when it comes down to it.
I find it sad when I pop in somewhere and am automatically judged based on where I'm from. Wouldn't you? All I'm saying is that while individuals can be disgusting, calling an entire nation disgusting based on what you see in the media, places like this, etc. is probably jumping the gun.
Of course, this is all assuming you aren't from the States.

Funnily enough, they ARE people from all parts of the world... and most of those people are not in the government, and no matter what people think, the American people don't elect the president (Bush wouldn't have been in office now if that were true.) Oh, and most of us weren't alive when the natives were initially pushed out--which isn't an excuse or anything--but none of those barbarian settlers called me on the phone to ask if it was a good idea, so I can't really say I had anything to do with it...

I liked La Gata's and Las's answer, sophia's, and primes answers. Now I'm American and have to say there are a lot of really shallow, stupid, spoiled, ungrateful people here. Most are young. I'd like to confirm, that the electoral college votes for our President, not the people. Most of us voters were sickened the first time, and appalled the second time he went into office. We do not support the war. Any suggestions? And what do you find about Americans disgusting? My sister lives in Holland, and does not like America but was still sad about 911 and shocked at how many people there were really happy that happened. She started telling people she was from Ireland. Please don't discount all of us as scum.

I don't think they are disgusting, I think that they must have very low respect for human rights, since they voted for Bush or allowed him to be re-elected...
I mean come on! people, get out on the streets, protest!
Stop US terrorism!

Hey guys - don't you realise that she IS an American? And she isn't saying that she finds that they are disgusting - she is asking whether you do! Maybe someone said that to her and she was surprised and is checking a wider sample.

What are you, some British aristocrat following some old stereotype? A few americans may have poor habits, but that doesn't mean we all do. It's just that the few bad people overshadow everything else, because the shock value looks good on TV.

I live in America. In a small town. It's much different from the big cities and YES... I find most Americans disgusting! But I find your statement to be prejudice. There are good and bad people all over the world. America just seems to have the most rude. I apologize for all of the rude ones. And hope that you can find it in yourself to judge people for who they are ... not where they live. Have a wonderful day and God bless!
