Why do teens like nasty BOD, AXE, and other foul sprays?

These things are terrible, cheap, and foul smelling. Why do teens like them? Why not invest in a real cologne?

In the commercials, a half-naked guy is with a girl and goes into the bathroom, peeks at his dingus, and sprays it with the stuff. Okay, so it doesn't smell that terrible--but since it's being used as a substitute for showering (??) there is a stigma attached to it. Like if you don't bathe, just cover it up with a body spray. Women don't go nuts for it--women don't go nuts for anything. You have to spend time getting to know them, and it's an investment like anything else. Real cologne (some don't smell much better)=$50, Axe=$3. I see the money factor, but I think I'd rather wear nothing than smell like every other teenager dousing themselves with this spray hell.

I agree that Bod is akin to such horrible scent disasters as Old Spice and Stetson...not to mention Lady Stetson UGH! I had some cheap relatives give me that crap for Christmas one year...you can imagine my disappointment and utter horror...and the headache I got just by looking at the bottle of cheap excuse for lady's perfume.
But.... Axe is a different story....I happen to like some of the Axe body wash, sprays and deoderant on my husband. Maybe you haven't come across a good scent yet. He uses one that has a manly, woodsy scent. Sort of Reminds me of CK BE. It's altogether not bad at all. my all time favorite men's cologne would have to be Liz Claiborne's Curve for Men though....the great thing is that since its been out for awhile it's pretty inexpensive and thats great because it's such a warm, sexy scent on a man that just lingers..but not in a bad way.

Holy crap, I hate it. Like the boys' changing room in the green room will smell really bad by the end of a show, and there's always some moron who's like, "Hey, maybe spraying ridiculous amounts of Axe body spray will make this room smell better!" So the rest of us are like, "Gee, great. Now it smells like Axe AND a**."

Great PR. The ads make the consumer think that, if they wear these products, they will be hot and sexy and the chicks will be all over 'em. When you can push a product like that, who needs a good smell? The famous old advertising adage, "you can sell s*** if you market it right."

I have no idea!!! The boys at my school load that stuff on. Personally, I don't mind just a little bit of Axe, but damn, a lot smells awful!!! :(

They just like it. The boye teens in my school usually sprayed it everywhere to get the girls mad. It does smell, though!

- Good advertising (using hot goodlookin men)
- cheap and affordable (more so than perfumes) - very big factor for teens because they do not have alot of money to spare
- available at supermarkets - easily accessible

i have NO idea some stupid boys on my bus keep spraying it and everyone is like EWWW what the heck what are you doing

i think they do it to annoy people cuz they all got suspended from the bus but not for that but anyway it is soo gross

they smell good to me, and they are cheap, so u can smell just as good and not spend all that money

i am not attracted to em and your right the sents are terrible im a teen chick
