Would'nt think so.A woman gave birth to six boyes. When they grew up to be young men.All totally different, one was a brilliant scholar, one a reasonable athlete, one had a physical deformity, one was overweight, one rather tall and one was gay.
This is a true event. All these boyes shared the same genes.Yet each had a totally different manhood. They all loved each other, and thier parents without resevation

Well yes and no yea it can be transfer ed threw genes a baby can be born with more female chromosomes then male chromosomes making the person have more estrogen then testosterone although people also can choose to be homosexual but in that case they do have a higher testosterone then estrogen but they desire more male needs. SO the answer is they are both genetic and optional.

During pregnancy, if the mother is under stress, her hormone production alters, and this effects a change in the brain of the fetus. The electronic activity of the brain is altered. This is a fact. There is no control after the birth. It is not a choice. Believe what you will.

Religious prejudice has influenced our culture on this subject. The ancients accepted it as a normal fact that some males had female tendencies, and vice versa. It is only in recent times that the "Church", has declared is sin. So much for mind-control.

By the way, I am STRAIGHT, and without prejudice.

I have heard some research that claims that homosexuality can be transfered through genes and can be hereditary. They even make references to this idea in certain books, like Running With Scissors.

The fact of the matter is, we don't know. There is some compelling evidence that points to a genetic component, but there is more to it than that. For many, it may be a matter of their upbringing and certain traumas they endured. For others, it is just as natural to them as heterosexuality is to you (a general you, that is). It's not more explainable than heterosexuality. Is there a gene that controls that? If there is, we don't know.

The mechanisms of heritability or development are not well understood. The statistical analysis is though, and homosexuality is highly concordant among some people/families.

If the behavioral tendencies were in the genes, there would be at least a primitive development of female reproductive cells in the male.

Nor have they found the bisexual gene...or the pedophilic genes....or the lesbian genes.....etc. etc.

No. it has yet to be proven that people are born homosexual. I believe it is the persons preference. Now, how early in life that preference is evident is debatable...some claim to have never been straight. Who knows? This is more of a moral debate than anything.
