you mean subscription renewal?
definition updates?
or version updates?

not sure which you mean
to get updates run live update (get 1 year free updates before you have to renew)
for subscription renewal (1 year of updates ) that can also be thru live update (have to pay tho)
to update/upgrade you will most likely have to pay as well

I don't think you can. That's the problem with the likes of Norton and McAfee etc...they hook you with a low price to buy it, and then when you're used to it they charge for the updates. You didn't ask, but I'd recommend dumping Norton and getting something like AVG Anti-Virus, the free version. It's available at the below link. Updates are free as well.

look ... if your subscription has expired, you must
1-uninstall norton from control panel and then reboot your machine.
2-uninstal live reg and live update from control panel then reboot.
3-open c:program files then delete the file named symantec.
4-use search key from tool bar to locate any file named symantec and delete it.
5-open run and type regedit then OK you will got the registry from edit press find and type symantec then delete all the keys with this name and find next by pressing F3 until it finished then reboot.
6-now you can install a fresh copy of norton lasting for 1 more year and can update it from norton website.

be careful while working with the registry.

Seems like your subscription already expired. That means you can't update anymore.
I suggest you remove Norton from your system (if you do not want to pay the subscription) and install a free AV program like AVAST or AVG.

If your subscription has run out you will not be able to update.

Nortons is a notorious Antivirus program that doesn't like to detect things properly.

Download a free one called Avast! Home Edition it's free but you need to register it for the free version links are below :)

Norton needs to do something about that! If you spend 60dollars on an antivrus package it should last forever not 1 year!

you can't, but before you consider going anywhere else, remember that you always get what you pay (or don't) pay for
