I think the city and state governments of Louisiana completely let their people down. Then they re-elect Nagin?!? WTF is that all about? Gee, he did *such* a good job using those school buses to evacuate the old and infirm.....

I was really surprised at how many people blamed it all on Bush. If the idiots who were IN the state - Nagin and Blanco - couldn't tell how much of a disaster they had on their hands, how in the hell can someone thousands of miles away know?

Besides, our federal government is too large of a bureaucracy to EVER move very quickly. And I think the people who were capable of leaving but *made the choice* to stay have no one to blame but themselves.

I happen to be a Democrat and do believe that President Bush and the administration shoulder most of the blame for the absolutely shameful response to the disaster suffered by the residents of the Gulf Region in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

However, in all fairness, the Democratic Governor of Lousiana (I don't recall her name) and Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin should a lot of the blame as well.

All-in-all, the governments' response to Hurricane Katrina was a national disgrace all around.

Tons and tons of rain... a bunch of lakes and an ocean higher than the land they live on. Then moronic idiots shooting at their own help, robbing neighbors for televisions rather than food? I think they had a rightful response. If you want someone to save you don't try to kill them!

I think they did WAY TOO MUCH for those people. I was in Alabama and we KNEW for at least 10 days almost exactly what was going to happen and where Katrina was going to make landfall. The idiots who didn't get out deserved it!

The government shares the same ideology that I do. They help those who help themselves.
