Run more than one anti-spyware program. Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy are two good programs to run. You can get them from download.com

Make certain that you set a password on the admistrator account on your computer.

Sometimes a computer has been so badly infected that the only way to get it working again, the way it should be, is to format and reinstally the operating system and all of your programs. You should be able to burn your personal files to CD first, but if you had a virus you'll have to be careful with that.

If you've already thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the thing and it still pokes along it might be time to have it reformatted. Basically what happens then is that the hardrive gets electronically erased and the operating system reinstalled. Few things make a pc run better than a reformat, however, if you have anything that you need to save, it will have to be removed prior to the reformatting process, when i said erased i meant erased. when you get it back, you'll probably have to reinstall everything, but i guarantee if it is done by someone reputable it will be worth it.

Are you sure your computer was infected with a virus? Not just performance slowly degrading over time, which is natural on computers. Try running your disk defragmenter under system tools. That might help.
