Is it me or is it ridiculous that football, basketball, baseball and soccer(football), Actors, and Musicians get paid more than the teachers who help them get there and encourage them. Then the doctors who aided them when they were wounded.I mean seriously I know it takes alot of talented to do these things. But it also takes talent and patience to put up with our knuckle headed kids.(I dont have kids I'm only 19 in college getting a degree in Biochemistry to become a Pediatric Physician). But thats not the point. I mean it takes talent to operate on someone. But yet they are over looked that. I mean what are we really telling our kids that "Hey, forget becoming a chemist, doctor, engineer, nurse, teacher, or any other occupation that is being over looked because if you want to make it big become an actress or rapper." "Hell, as long as your legs are fast you can be a runningback for the Dallas Cowboys" And what happens when that dream doesn't happen? What happens when they dont get it?

Why did I bring it up cause I'm tired of hearing my younger cousin rely on their football talent to make it big...All I heard when I was in school was I'm gonna be in the NFL or the NBA or an actress or rapper..When asked what was their fall back.. Half of them didn't know...So you can say oh the fans pay for it blah blah blah... But its obvious that you dont understand that all that money they are bringing in on game day does not come from ticket sales..It comes from endorsements to sell lies to your children that one day that could be them...

That may be so on the incomes..But its a really sad case.I mean the average teacher salary is around 44k... There's something wrong there... I mean just imagine coming fresh out of college with a degree living paycheck to paycheck because you have to pay off student loans..

I agree wholeheartedly. America seems to have shunned most aspects of intelligence for celebrity status and high paying jobs that shouldn't be anywhere near as profitable as they are.

I often wonder why (at least in Tennessee) the average prisoner gets thirty thousand dollars a year spent on them while the average public school student got, at best, three thousand. I always wondered why my favorite teachers, those who took the time to educate me even with my terrible bouts of Bipolar induced depression were making so little while someone made enough to buy a mansion with just one touchdown. To me, THIS is what shows a decline in American society, not the breaking down of religious and moral values.

Why should anyone care if a celebrity does drugs or is dating someone? We should be caring about educating our children and paying our teachers enough that they don't get burned out. The saddest day in my life was when my favorite English teacher just gave up. I saw her burn out in front of my very eyes and it was as if I saw her soul wilt. How can this be considered okay!?

Just imagine how much we could pay these heroes if celebrities, prisons, and other places got paid even half as less (prisons for the prisoners, we still do need jails). It just sickens me to know that these people make so little yet every day they work they trudge into a job where almost no one cares about what they do.

Hate to split hairs, but I think you'll find a considerable disparity between the incomes of doctors and teachers in the U.S.

Why do people keep asking this?!!!!!!!! gee wiz ~ look at the stadiums ~ they're packed with people. It's the fans who pay for entertainment. What is it that you want? Do you want your doctor to charge you $5,000,000 for a visit?
