...I figure is has something to do with tampering with the mail.

Just a passing thought as i watch the benchwarmers, But the most classic mailbox baseball scene from a movie is from Stand By me. remember that? haha!

Yes, it is. All mailboxes are considered property of the United States government, thus, it is considered destruction of government property and, oddly enough, it can carry some rather unpleasant penalities if the officials were inclined to pursue conviction.

Sure is, any kind of mail tampering is a felony. That includes mailbox baseball.

Actually the mail and mailbox is the sole responsibility of the owner. Once it's delivered it is the owners responsibility to secure it. The only thing the owner can do is call the police for destruction of property and you have to catch the perp first beofre anything can be done!

The wind is blowing and you smash a mailbox to smitherenes... Someones income tax return was in the box.. A neihbor writes down your liscense # and the victim who lost there refund check wants to press charges... You are charged with tampering with mail.. A federal crime...

probably could get you for tampering with mail. may get you with destruction of property. possibly trspassing. i would say there are a number of things they could pin on you for this.

Interfering with the delivery of the US Mail. That's bad juju. Many bad things happen to one who gets caught.
