i have worked for a company for 15weeks they do not take people on until that person has been there about 12months today a person was took on permanant even tho he has only been there 4 weeks and i have been there 15weeks i am gutted

Until recently I worked at the Employment Tribunal service. A very good source of information for employers and employees is ACAS. Go to their website which has a lot of information about temporary workers. The person who was taken on permanently before you just may have a better aptitude for the job than you (if it is the exactly the same job). Unfortnately we have to take life's knocks but it is hard sometimes.

For the length of time you and the other employee has been there the law will treat you as the same. The other employee could be fired tomorrow under the same circumstances as you and the law would treat you both the same. There are no longer any special considerations for temporary employees compared to those on a permanent contract.

You need to look at this from a different perspective.

The person who was taken on permanent was probably more experienced than you. Work there for a while. don't feel angry or upset. Gain your experience and apply for permanent position.

Dont be gutted.

in the UK you have no rights as a temporary worker until you have been employed for 2 years but they will find a reason to get rid of you before that.
