A few days ago Germany (the new president of The EU since 2007) announced (speculated for a while) they would begin trying to build a trans-atlantic free trade area between Europe (EU) and NAFTA (US, CDN, MEX).

So do you people think this is a good idea? I think its a great way to rival Russia & China. Perhaps we need to do this.

Whats next? A political intergration?

Bad idea. VERY bad idea. EXTREMELY bad idea. The European Union, if you can really call it that, is ruinous to each individual country's sovereignty. The EU will be controlled by a group of very rich and powerful people who, in reality, want to rule the world with malevolence. Their only thoughts are not for the good of Europe or the world, just in their being the only ones who control an all-powerful army that does their evil bidding only to join in the throes of power. YOU would be at their mercy and whim.

Free-Trade would be a good thing. America is slowly becoming the "Middle-Man" to the world. Most products are made over seas, then just sold by American Companies. So this would just help American companies have easier access to the EU market.

Also, I would consider India more of a threat than Russia. India has the 2nd highest population, and is developing very quickly (large part to American Tech firms going to India for resources).

Political integration, absolutely not. I don't want America to become a socialist country.

As to Jackson Leslie's comment, America's economy is out performing most of the countries in Europe and is definitely out performing EU as a whole. But, you will learn about that when newspapers start writing the "How the Dems are saving the Economy" articles probably by mid-spring to summer.

I would love that, the Euro is so expensive to buy when we vacation there. I think it would help our economy but the Europeans would hate it

Maybe we can adopt the Euro as our currency if that happens. It may keep our economy from tanking further.

The U.S. and China economies are entwined. That is why they are doing it.
