For some reason after I turn on a turn signal, and then it resets to the neutral position (no turn signal position) I still hear the flasher cube clicking on and off; only at a much higher rate of speed than it would with the turn signals on. The turn signals are functioning just fine, but I obviously have some sort of problem. Is it a short, or do I need a new Flasher cube. The car is realitivley young (2003 VW Jetta with 60k on it). The problem only started last night.

some cars have the flasher built into the emergency flasher switch(such as 2000 and up pontiac grand am.) these are known to have this problem(gm has a recall) if your vdub has this setup, it could be the same problem, if not i would put in a new flasher as they are cheap and easily changed by the average consumer. if this does not fix your problem, you might consider having a competent mechanic check it out. sometimes a small diagnostic bill is cheaper than guessing by replacing a bunch of expensive parts you might not need.

Some cars have a feature that makes the clicking noise speed up when your signal bulb is about to burn out. This way you have time to fix it before it is completely out.

you might have a bad turn signal switch, some might call it the combo switch.. due to the multifuntion of cruise, wipers and turn signals.. but sometimes it flashes fast due to a blown bulb...check it out and see.
