What is your GPA scale? For instance, mine is 3.2 out of 4.0. Is 4.0 the highest on your scale or is it 5.0? If it is 4, then you should have no problems. You'd get more scholarships though if you could get it up over 3.5.

How do you difine decent, and what else are you doing to beef up your application.
You will not get into Harvard with a 3.1 but you can get into most state schools with a 3.1 and a decent ACT/SAT.
You should focus on getting better grades, it isn't that hard and doesn't require very much more work, looking back, at high school, if I had done a quarter of the work I did in college I would have had a high 3 gpa, and i went to Southern Utah University.
I looked at the University of Colorado numbers becuase I live in Colorado and this is what it said
Average Qualification of the Freshman Class
High School GPA 3.55
Percentile Rank 74%
SAT I Total* 1200
ACT Composite 26
* Range includes critical reading and math scores only.
This means the average was 3.55 you could likely get in with a 3.1 but why risk it. I realize that CU may not be considered a decent school by you but unless you significantly improve your GPA, rock the ACT and SAT, this is the type of school you will have to consider.
P.S. A schools ranking isn't everything, I wouldn't have gone to school anywhere else. I choose to go to SUU passing up a scholarship to Mizzou.
Do better in high school, then find a school that matches your personality, culture, and desires and you will have a more enjoyable college experiance.

I'm not sure what you consider "decent" but you can definitely slide right in to a state school with anything over a 3.0. You've got some time to get it even higher too. Try to do a lot with extra curricular activities as well as keeping your grades up. It will make you a more attractive candidate for more schools.

You have a lot of time to raise your GPA. Work harder and put all your effort into your schoolwork. And if you haven't started hearing this, I guess I am one of the 300 people you're going to hear say - Junior year is the most important year. Colleges look into that year the most.
Also, try to get involved in an extracurricular activity in or outside of school. Colleges love those! College take into account different things.
Good Luck and work your butt off!

You are doing a fine job. GPA is not the only factor. Your extracurricular activities show you have drive and interests, as well as showing propable leadership skills. Keep up the good work and you'll be fine.

Yes; you definitely won't have to resort to community colleges. You, of course, won't get into Harvard with that GPA, but you could easily get into most state schools.

u better raise your gpa, it doesnt matter what hs or class ur in; ur gpa is the most important. Getting A's in regular classes is better than getting C's in AP classes because it all goes on your gpa..and if you have a high gpa, u get into a good school. If you don't, sucks for u; ull end up in a worse place
