ok, apologies to anyone who helped me in the past with this problem but im still having trouble. I have a Dell Dimension 5150 pc, its less than a year old. My Lexmark all in one printer packed up so i recently bought another lexmark (x5470). The problem is i cant get it to work. Either the pc freezes up at the last part of installment or a message comes up saying 'no communication check leads' etc which i know are all ok. Ive tried going back to a restore point. Ive unistalled the old printer software, and installed and uninstalled the new one loads of times but still no joy. I have obviously contacted lexmark and the chap in Delhi is very helpful but although i follow his instructions to the letter nothing works, this is really doing my head in!!!! My only option i think is to completly wipe my hard drive and start again.Has anyone got any idea what the problem is.
Thank you

Unplug the printer for 20 minutes to reset the device, and run a printer cleansing cycle, this at times triggers the cartridges to artwork, that is difficult to inform what else should be the precedence without the type of the printer, yet i think you are able to wish a clean printhead, use the printer finder on the hyperlink less than to work out if printheads on your certain printer are offered as consumables,

yes i agree, checking the hardware is the first step, and it's easier than the software.

u have a similar printer to me, i have had problems like this be for. as far as i remember u must plug the printer in at the right point of installation. if not then you can bugger it up. turning everything off and on again helps too.

turning the printer on be for the PC, try that. then try turning on the PC then the printer.

also go online and have a look at lexmarks web page, see if they have any updates for your printers software or if there are any fixes or downloads that may help.

at this point anythings worth a go dude, i know haw it feels when pc's do this sort of thing,

Are you attaching the printer before or after installing the software? Some printers require that you attach during the set-up, not before. If so, it should let you know during the installation.

You may have to look in Device Manager for any devices with exclaimation points. Delete these devices and reboot.

Try installing the software first before attaching the printer.

This may sound simple, but when I bought my wife her first mp3 player I had a problem with the usb patch cord, if it's junk, or only works partially it'll give you an error. If you haven't tried a new usb cable yet I'd try that next. Pretty simple fix if it works, and it has for me on more than one occasion.

I am not sure but i think your printer comes with a ethernet connection, try connecting it via a router switch if you have one as a network printer, also check which printer port it is useing, and above all make sure your CMOS is set to EPP not NORMAL hope it helps.
