I purchased a 6 connect 2.0 usb card(4 ext. & 2 internal),since my older system has 1.1 USB.The card purchased from e-bay new said I could connect the 2 internal to the front ports on my computer. Is it possible? I also bought a external 2.0 USB 80G hard drive and a external 2.0 DVD writer. My system has 1.1 USB and thus the reason for the card purchase. Can anyone tell me if this will allow me to use the new devices I bought? Also will I be able to connect to the front USB sockets?

I'd have to see the inside of your case to be sure, but I'd say, tentatively, yes.

Usually the ports that are connected to your case are actually embedded in a little metal plate, which has a cable running back to your motherboard. Your new card should have its own cable with 2.0 ports. You should be able to detach the old 1.0 ports from the front of your case, and screw the new 2.0 ports on. Of course, this will depend on whether or not the cable long enough to reach from the card to that place on your case.

I hope you're running Win2000 or newer on your system. Win98 doesn't like USB 2.0. Even Win98 second edition has problems, if it was an upgraded version.

As long as the motherboard is 2.0 compatible you should not have a problem. You might have to do a little screwing around to get the front jacks to work unless you get lucky and they just happen to fit where the old ones were. Determining if the whole works will work together is really going to depend on the age of the pc, the motherboard and what operating system you happen to be running.

confident it does remember. An AM2+ chip needs an AM2+ motherboard, even although an AM2+ (or AM3) motherboard can run an AM2 chip. The motherboard is the limiter for the chip. you will desire to envision the motherboard to work out no remember if that's AM2 or AM2+, it might already be upgraded. additionally examine to work out in case you have sufficient RAM for each thing you prefer to run. A 30+ fps pictures card & 3Ghz 4 middle CPU is ineffective in case your CPU keeps struggling with to alter-out memory.
