I watched the intro and it looks to me like it's more of a Halloween movie.

Little bit of both, maybe?

IMDB:

Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween -- but alas, they can't get it quite right.

It is actually a fantasy about a world where you can jump from season to season through a magic forest. The King of Halloween wants to take over Christmas for a year. So I guess it really is a Halloween movie, but not in the classical "scary" sense.

Yep, it's a movie about how the Halloween characters try to take over the Christmas holiday.

The movie actually takes place over Christmas Eve. It's a darker take on the Christmas holiday.

Its kinda both, but since all the characters are like dead and gross looking and they live in the Town of Halloween, its mostly a Halloween movie.

It originally came out in November.
But what is a Christmas Movie?
Steven Spielbergs Munich came out on Christmas Day, but it certainly isn't a 'Christmas Movie'.

Its a goth movie. All of Tim Burton's movies are goth.

Although I'm a clean cut thirty something, his movies attract the goth teenagers.
