-organized and contain complex substances
-have one or more cells
-use energy
-have definite form
-life span
-grow
-respond to changes in their environment
-reproduction

**Viruses are not living, although they contain some but not all life functions.

Living matter has to get rid of wastes. Living grows. Living takes in an input of energy. I can't remebver the rest i've been studying too much astrophysics.
