Almost Impossible? Grants are impossible period to get for start up businesses. Go to your local microenterprise organization and get a microloan. It will be easier, but the commitment and determination must be there. Good luck!
About Microenterprise
Microenterprise Defined
AEO and its members have defined microenterprise as a business with five or fewer employees requiring $35,000* or less in start-up capital. AEO estimates that there are over 20 million U.S microenterprises, which represent 17% of all private employment in the U.S. In addition, microenterprise represents a path from poverty to financial security for many low-income individuals.
* Loans of $35,000 and under are known as microloans.
Microenterprise Development Industry
The estimated 600 microenterprise development organizations (MDOs) operating in the U.S. exist to support disadvantaged entrepreneurs as they start or expand their businesses. MDOs can increase the chance of business success by bridging the gap between disadvantaged individuals and the tools they need to start and grow successful businesses. With the help of AEO services, MDOs offer business training, technical assistance, access to capital, and other services to entrepreneurs to assist them in realizing their dream of business ownership. For many low-income entrepreneurs MDOs represent the only opportunity to access the capital and business tools necessary for business start-up.

The hard truth is that it is almost impossible to get grant money. I have spent three years researching all those books that supposedly help you get grants! If you do want grants go to govt.com and they will tell you what grants there are as of now. The only sure fire way to get a grant though is if its for reasearch or environment. Agriculture(farming) is another good one. The economy has to get better with that money or they won't even waste their time with you. Sorry. Try mom and dad or the SBA
Small Business Association.

The Small Business Administration offers guidance and information about potential funding sources to entrepreneurs. Firstgov.gov is the U.S. government's website. You can find information about starting a business and government grant availability online. If you visit your local library, ask if they carry the Government Assistance Almanac.
The Foundation Center publishes information about grants available for individuals, organizations and non-profits.
You will need to draw up a business plan first.

She said GRANT, not loan.
Find someone who is a fitness grant writer. You will need to prove how what you want to do is different and more beneficial than Curves or other women-only clubs. Grants are not easy to get for something like this unless you come across organizations that want to subsidize businesses catering to women or women-owned.

There are lots of sources for business funding. The first place to start would be the bank where your mortgage is.
The government also has funding that you might be able to apply for.
