On August 25, 2001, at approximately 6:49 pm, after the filming of her memorable "Rock the Boat" in Abaco Islands of the Bahamas, Aaliyah and seven friends boarded a twin engine Cessna 402B piloted by Luis Morales III. The aircraft was headed to Opa-locka Airport near Miami, Florida. Aaliyah left a few days early than planned because she wanted to be with her friends, family, and then-boyfriend Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, who she once discussed marriage with, when the time would be right.
