I did that with my first i-pod. I have a nano too. The good news is that you can fix it. The bad news is that you will lose any songs that are saved on your i-pod.

Turn on your i-pod (if you can) and then press the very center button (middle) and the top button at the same time. HOLD them down until you see the Apple icon on your screen. This virtually re-boots your i-pod. Think of it as a mini computer.

You MAY have to go to I-tunes and reload the latest version (if you use I-tunes). You can fix most anything by re-booting this way. Good luck.

well, maybe try holding play or menu for several seconds or replug it into the computer, but make sure that it's where no songs would try to load on there, you know, as if you were charging it.
