Don't believe everything you read. All it takes is a little research to get to the truth. Now if you see the truth and refuse to acknowledge it, that's a whole different issue.
American Samoa has not been subject to the Federal Minimum wage in over 50 years. The reason for this is because 80% of the economy is based on one thing: canning tuna. With a lack of diversity in the economic sector, raising the minimum wage in the canneries, would make the entire territory a welfare state. Other Congresses have realized this and that is why a special committee is in place that deals with the Samoan wage every 2 years. This is NOT a new development.

O DONT YOU EVEN SAY IT. Republicans at the turn of 20th century the republicans wouldnt' let people have unions, which people come together and fight for their work hours, their wages, and a good workplace. It took Teddy to get us out of that, YOU on the other hand have been supporting big business since this country was started, always try to keep the less educated out of matters and keep the rich in power. We raised the minimum wage because of growing prices, O NO THIS MEANS THE YOUTH HAS A CHANCE TO BE NORMAL! Yes i am happier

They made a loophole exempted American Samoa from the min wage increase.. all other US trust territories wouldnt not be exempt only them.
The exemption came upon lobbying efforts from Starkist Tuna who employs many people in American Samoa.

Do you have a link?
Thanks for that link. I have never like Nancy Pelosi. She is a self-serving politician like so many others. She comes across at a minimum as a hypocrit.
