why do guys think chicks don't know about cars?

Most girls I have know do not have interest in repairing cars. I have heard stories of girls actually beleiving there is blinker fluid! A big percentage of girls don't know about cars. There is also a lot of guys who don't know about cars also.

Usually the people who don't think others know about cars are the people who work on cars. There are less people who work on car then there are people who do.

If everyone knew about cars, the shops wouldn't be able to charge $500 for a 30 minute brake job that costs less then $80 in parts.

I knew a girl who did know cars, but she was the only one.

Well typically women are not taught anything bout caars at all. But if you do know bout cars, or at least what the important parts are and their functions are, ie the battery, how to check the oil, add oil if needed, the alternator, the starter, your exhaust, the radiator, the fan, and simple accesory parts that go on a cars motor and the functions, then if you have to go into a shop and they go to tell you a bunch of stuff is wrong with the car, you can tell them no this is what is wrong, and the shops will be less likely to ake advantage of you. But to go back to your question, back in the day, men were taught bout cars, and women were taught to tend to the home. As time progressed some women started learning bout cars, at least learning more bout them than just getting in and going. But think of todays world, I see so many guys now that dont even know how to change a tire, women too. People are more apt to go to a shop now than to learn anything. Most women in todays society is afraid to know anything bout a car, much less they are scared that they will get dirty. Guys are just as "clueless" as some women, but guys like to think that they know everything and figure that if they can convince a girl that they know nothing that it will make them look smarter... haha wont happen...

In my experience it all depends on the girl. With most of the girls I've known, they only care if the cars run. But, there are some who are very knowledgeable. Sometimes it's because they have had siblings or parents who were knowledgeable, or they didn't have anybody to help them and took the time to educate themselves on the subject. There even a few who seem to get into cars as much as guys, but they seems to be hard to come by.

Because people in general tend to generalize ,I am a service writer at a big shop and women/girls say "I'm just a girl ,I don't know about this stuff" all the time and I just tell them they know as much as guys . If you learn your engine size and tire size both you will know more than 90% of the men or women that come thriugh my door s daily-LOL after that learn the difference between ALIGNMENT and WHEEL BALANCE ,then you will truly be a 1% 'er as 99% of the people could not tell you ALL 4 of those things ON A BET!

Most chicks don't but most guys don't know as much as they think either. Chicks can and should take advantage of it. Not to mention most guys don't know much about chicks, either. Advantage, chicks.

because over 70 percent of women who buy cars dont even look under the hood to see if it has an engine, most women are like long neck bottles, when it comes to automotive issues, thier empty from the neck up
