What are some nice cities in florida for a recent college grad to move to? I've grown up in California and I just want to get a way for a while. I love it here, but it's getting way to crowded. Plus the whole southern california superficiality that seems to surrounding me is driving me up the wall. By the way, I've been going to Miami almost every summer to visit family, but it's to wild and crazy for me. Any other suggestions? Thanks and have a SUPER rest of the day!

If you have family in Miami I think you would be more comfy on the east close so you could still visit them without the hassle of driving too far. If you want to get a job in Florida why don't you apply somewhere and then decide where to live. If money isn't a problem and you don't have to work, the middle keys like Islemorada or Marathon is beautiful and not crowded.

I would recommend Pensacola. It's located in the "pan handle" of Florida- they have nice beaches, it's home to a Navy base, good shopping, etc. It's a bigger city of Florida, but it's not anywhere near crazy like Miami. You would also be about 1 hour away from Alabama, so you can experience what it has to offer (beautiful beaches, great shopping, historic homes, etc). Good luck in your travels!

The west coast of Florida is lower key. Fly into Tampa, head west toward Clearwater and explore north and south from there. See what appeals to you. It's quite different from what you've seen.

Hope that helps!

Jacksonville isn't bad. Close to the ocean, supposedly bigger than Miami but doesn't feel like it, but quite spread out. And close to Georgia, so it doesn't feel so far disconnected from the rest of the south when you are travelling by car.

I used to live in the Tampa Bay Area and loved it. Anywhere from Clearwater south is great. Definitely more "real" than South FLA.
