No.
We stopped making westerns and things looked more official in black and white.

I'm sorry, but Clooney doesn't even come close to John Wayne, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Edward G Robinson, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, William Holden, or even the Three Stooges.
In retrospect, Marylin Monroe had a relatively short career, but her star burned bright. Her work still endures. Some Like It Hot is a perfect example.
Robert Dinero, Al Pacino, and Tom Hanks are the only ones that come close to stars who have enduring careers. But today's society has such a short attention span that it is difficult for anyone to have a lasting impression these days.

Sadly, there aren't any today. Hollywood's golden era was when the stars you mention along with some others like Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, Vincent Price, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Sydney Poitier, Gary Cooper and a whole lot more graced the silver screen.

The great stars of yesterday will never be emulated. They had glamour and mystery. Todays stars are too out there with their antics and their private lives. Nothing is left to the imagination anymore.

The stars you mention had distinctive voices, you knew who they were by just hearing them. What stars today really have that distinction? They seem to really get into their lines and be the characters they were suppose to be, I would have to tell you no.

I don't think so. I think if we had today's communication techology 50 years ago, I think we would have had those stars all over TV and the internet just like today.

No way. The stars of the past had class and they were few and far between.
