Why it will cover one square yard.
If you mean one cubic yard then it will depend on the thickness. One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet, or 46,656 cubic inches.
If the pour is 3" thick, each square foot will require 432 cubic inches of concrete.
(3" X 12" X 12" = 432)
One cubic yard of concrete will cover 108 square feet at 3" thick.
One cubic yard of concrete will cover an area 3' wide by 36' long by 3" thick.

one sq yard covers one square yard - 9 square feet. I think you mean one cubic yard, which will depend upon how deep you plan to pour it. For example, if you want it 3 inches thick, (1/4 of a foot deep), one cu yard will cover 108 sq ft. A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet.
