why is Poseidon angry with Odysseus and keeps him from his home for so long? what makes Poseidon finally give in and let Odysseus journey home??

Yeah, the blinding of Poseidon's son does have a lot to do with his anger toward Odysseus, however it's not the sole cause. Poseidon was already angry with Odysseus because Odysseus did not thank the gods for his victories in the war (Trojan war, I believe) and, instead, chose to simply boast about himself. And, as we all know, in ancient Greece, if you don't thank the gods.....baaaaaaad stuff for you!! Hope I was helpful.

Poseidon is angry with Odysseus because he blinded a cyclops with a flaming branch, and that cyclops was a son of Poseidon. In the end Poseidon has to give in and let Odysseus reach home because of the goddess Athena, who proves to be 'stronger'/more powerful than Poseidon. Hope this helps!

Because Odysseus blinded the Cyclops Polyphemus, who was Poseidon's son. After many years, Odysseus planted an oar and made a shrine to Poseidon to appease him.

The Cyclops, Polyphemus, is Poseidon's son. He is mad at Odysseus because he blinded Polyphemus.
