some woman from my same town left a message on my machine saying that she'd deposit $400 tomorrow in my mailbox and $325 next wk. i have no idea why, no one owes me money, this house was previously a rental. hey should i keep it? if it's in my box it's mine right? or will i get in trouble? so tempting. honestly i couldn't keep it, but WOW!

I don't think it's right for you to keep the money. You should call her back and ask why she's depositting it. There's gotta be a catch. Maybe she wants you to spend it, so she can come back and sue you! =) I don't even know if it's possible, but if you truly want the money. Move out and keep it! =)

I agree. I hate to burst your bubble, but it's probably a wrong number or a prank call.
If it's not, politely turn the money down, it's obviously a mistake. You might not get into legal trouble, but taking the money would simply be a greedy and shallow thing to do.

um i would try calling her as previously said, and if its fate that it winds up in your mailbox and you don't really need the money for a bill that maybe you really need to pay and that's the exact amount. then you should give it to charity or buy someones grocery's or do something good with it. buys some one a tire who's car really needs it etc...

don't take it.....just think of the person it was originally intended for. what if they have kids and really need it. Besides, its not yours and karma will bite you in the *** 3x worse.

If it's cash.... how is she gonna prove it? If it's a check you should do the right thing.
