In my opinion, Reader Digest (RD) has high quality content . The content is unique too.
Most of the light (leisure) magazines in Malaysia consist of 50% or more advertisements space, but RD has much lower adverstisement space.
RD has a huge number of regular subscribers in Malaysia. Price factor might become insignificant for their subscribers.
From macroeconomic point of view, Ringgit Malaysia is getting weaken, so the price of good / products go up. Effort must put in by all Malaysians to make Ringgit stronger by working smart, hard and be creative.

Most mags are $4 to $5 now, RD is $3 , so how do you come up with RD is expensive ?
If that is too much, subscriptions are cheaper.
