Phoenix is a nice place to live. Just be sure you can take the heat. Phoenix has many surrounding town that you might want to consider as a plce to live though, Tempe for instance, or Mesa or Gilbert. Phoenix the "city" is kind of hard to find a good safe place to live. Surrounding towns would be my choice. I have lived in Phoenix before, and I like and recommend the outer edges of the area.

It has its good points, like sunshine almost all the time. But there are lots of bugs and more crime than I have ever seen. The cost of living is very high compared to several other places I have lived. The pay is a bit higher but not enough to compensate. If you really want to live there, stay away from the Metro Center area and anywhere south of that. I say go for Surprise, it is a growing town, yet safer. It is still close enough to get to Phoenix each day, if you must for work there. Personally, I wouldn't go back there for nothing for the above reasons. I have many friends who have left here because finding work was too hard and they were sick of the traffic and rude drivers. Sorry Phoenix fans!

It depends on what part you live in.
Some areas have a high rate of crime, including gang activity & drug trafficking.
The vehicle traffic can be horrendous at times.
The summers there are brutally hot.
On the plus side, Phoenix offers many employment opportunities. It has some fine restaurants & shopping malls & is home to 3 professional sports teams.
It also has some of the finest doctors & hospitals in the country.
If you're looking for a place to live, consider the suburbs, like Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Chandler, Glendale or Peoria, for example. If you're 55 or older, you could live in Sun City.

Great weather all year (except the excessive heat in summer). Great place to see variety of cactus. Exciting for off-roading trips. College town Tempe is very lively & fun nightlife. Accessible to California, Vegas & Colorado. What more to enjoy the Southwestern beauty?

I lived in Phoenix for twelve years. Worked for my respiratory problems. Loved every minute, and I go back every chance.
You usually find what you are looking for, so look for good, and get out and talk to the folks ! ( don't miss the botanical gardens)
Encanto Park is fun for the little ones..

Phoenix is an absolutely WONDERFUL place to live, especially if you end up living in a area of it. My grandparents and my uncle live there and i went to visit them and stayed in scottsdale. it was BEAUTIFUL, relaxing, a great atmosphere, and just a neat place to stay. i would definately reccamend living in scottsdale if you get the choice. although it does get very hot in the summer, you do get used to it and learn to cope with it... better than the cold!! good luck with everthing!

Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, and Paradise Valley are the only nice places to live. The rest are cheap and ghetto.
