why does my Sims 2 expansion doesn't work?

I have all the requirements they ask and I have follow all the instructions step by step; by the way, it's the University pack expansion

If you are having trouble getting it to play, go to www.sims2.com, and download the patch for it on that side. I have all the expansions, and they all play fine, but I have the patches also. Give it a try.

It's either that you buddy don't have the original Sims 2 or the cd's messed up or a patch. You decide...

Do u have the originall sims game?
