I took that course last year... the reason? As a teacher, I wanted to be prepared with appropriate answers for my students. We all have different sexual mores and values... however, the discussion of some things like birth control, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual orientation require appropriate information as well. Believe it or not, not everyone in this world is comfortable discussing sexuality related issues, nor does everyone have accurate information. This course made me feel one step closer to both those goals.

To learn about human sexual behaviors. I've had a course on the psychology of human sexuality, and you do learn a lot about why people do some of the things they do (ie- fetishes, s&m). You also learn about different problems some people have with sex, and how that can affect marriages, relationships, etc. It's an interesting, educational class that explores just another side of being human.

Some take it becuase it is a requirement for completing your general education, and others could take it because they are interested in Psychology.

But overall, it is a really interesting class, and can sometimes be fun too if you get the right teacher. The subject can be kind of embarassing for some (yes, even in college) and you learn about everything, so it is really a beneficial course.

Because most college students are, or will be, sexually active at least once during their time in college. Why not have as much knowledge and information regarding sexuality as any other subject? Ignorance of it only creates more problems.

I took it because it was the only class open to count toward my degree. But actually, it was quite interesting and our prof. was hilarious....A friend and I just called it sex class, so we had some great laughs (we still talk about this today) when I screamed across the parking lot one day...."Hey, isn't that the guy we have sex with?" Priceless

Curiousity. There's alot to be learned from human behavior if one's interested. If you're not interested, don't worry about it.
