he has his +/-, he averages over 50 in tests with bat and 30ish with ball he has better record than anybody else but he is a very selfish cricketer! would yopu prefer him or flintoff i'd say flintoff because he plays for the team at all times Kallis you are not sure!

I would say Freddie Flintoff is the best all rounder in the world today. He may not be in the best form just at the moment - but all great players have the odd form slip.
Freddie is quite an accomplished batsman, and I would definitely rate his bowling of a far better quality than that of Kallis, who is extremely reluctant to bowl these days.
If he were able to take wickets in Tests more regularly, I would have voted for Andy Symonds, as he is a world class batsman, one of the top 3 fielders in world cricket and has the ability to bowl both medium pace and off spin.

There are many great cricket all-rounders out there and i believe Jacques kallis to be a great. However, there are others. Andrew Flintoff for one bowls well but needs to work on his defensive batting to become a legend of the game. Some others include Andrew Symonds, who recently has batted well in the ashes. Also, Razzaq, Afridi, Chris Gayle, etc.
One player i believe has done exceptional well is Paul Collingwood. He is an amazing fielder, can bat very well and not a bad bowler. Pieterson is also in form at the moment.
In conclusion, I believe in really depends on your taste. ( Good bowler, average batting. Or good batter, average bowler. Or reasonably good at both.)

Make no mistake Jacques Kallis is a great all rounder, but at the moment I would go with Chris Gayle.

Andrew Symonds
He can be out of a game for 99 overs, but then he will do something special and can turn a game around.
He is one of the most powerful hitters of a ball, he can bowl 10 tight overs (off breaks or medium pace) and he is currently the most exciting fielders in the world.
Kallis is good, but he lacks the X factor that turns games, and makes Australia the best team in the world!

Shane Watsonn, when he is fit. Fast bowler, middle order batsman in a test side, capable of opening the innings in a 20/20 or 50 over match gets my vote.

No. He is not the best all rounder in the world today. I would rate Freddy ahead of him.

I dont think so ....becos he doesn't like to bowl...and he doesn't like to be an all rounder.....real all rounder...Abdul Razzaq and andrew Flintoff,,,,,Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, they are all good.....Kallis is a world class player.....thats why he has to bowl as well...and he does it for his team....
